At any rate, if you think you have read them all you haven't, go get them. Sure, it’s been her own violent and zany brand of heroism, mind you, but still. As long as you are enjoying the story and/or art it doesn’t really matter where you begin. One of the most singularly unusual television shows in the history of the medium, Wild Palms (obliquely referencing the Faulkner novel from which its title is taken) is an ultra-paranoid political thriller that takes place in world clearly reminiscent of David Lynch, whose own unique foray into television, Twin Peaks, concluded its broadcast two years before this was aired in 1993 and was an obvious inspiration for the dream like ambience on display here.

The Vision is a stellar examination of what it means to be human, the darkness at the core of what that means, told through the lens of the Vision’s attempt to create his own suburban family. However, Lowery drove a 1949 convertible which was probably hot off the assembly line and although no Batmobile, had interesting doo-dads. I gave one to my son when he was 6 and he read it over and over. The MAD paperbacks were successful, and when Gaines shifted the series to another publisher, Ian Ballantine first tried to replace them with reprints from Kurtzman’s next magazine, Humbug.
