For us in the Bay Area, there are two new books competing for our favor. Bare-throated Tiger Heron 1 (ad) west bank of river, SCR (photo). O'Neill (Author, Illustrator), Theodore A. The Accipiters usually fly in a straight line with alternating periods of flapping and floating. This lovely little book covered about 82 species. Indeed this idea had been presented to Cornell several times in the past but PullUIn was the first really experienced technology company to come forward and since they had forged a relationship with National Geographic Cornell felt that this was finally the right combination to make such a product a success.

The blues and reds are glowing in the light of my desk lamp, making me ache to see these birds again, in real life. The bird identification section of the site is fairly new and I will add more bird species as I get around to it, and add more information about the birds that are there already. Identifying birds has made me a better observer of the physical world and on adventures in the surrounding area gives me a sense of wildness in the world. As you should know by now, Audubon puts out some great field guides. Try out this NatGeo app for free with Birds Lite by National Geographic, which includes 70 sample species.
